New Accountant role open reporting into Head of Finance.  This company has fabulous working conditions – 34 hour working week and flexibility in work hours. Your duties as an accountant are to control the day to day activities of the finance department and to provide financial and management information as required in a timely and accurate manner. You must have people management experience in order to secure this role.  The company is going through significant cultural change (all positive change) as well as core system change // as such your people management skills will be needed to bring individuals on your team through said changes.

Responsibilities/Tasks :

    Responsible for all monthly, quarterly and year end closings including the yearend audit and preparation of internal management reports of the companies.
    Responsible for the preparation of weekly/monthly internal management reports including cash flow.
    Co-ordinate budgeting and financial forecasting activities.  Ensure that all budget variances are investigated and corrective actions initiated.
    Ensure strong financial control environment exists at all times.  Review existing processes and procedures and introduce improvements where appropriate.
    Manage relationships with auditors, tax and actuarial advisers etc to ensure effective services are provided at efficient cost.
    Ensure that all regulatory, tax and statistical returns are submitted on a timely basis.
    Provide financial support to business units

Experience/Qualifications:

    Qualified Accountant with 7-10 years experience gained in an insurance environment
    Project management
    Systems analysis and project experience desirable
